1994 - Dinosaur Jr. - Santa Monica Civic Auditorium

Went to this show with Ron.
To all of you who have teased me over the years,
yes, I liked Dinosaur Jr. before they covered
Just Like Heaven by The Cure.  Though that
just made me like Dinosaur Jr. more!
I must have bought two dozen copies
of Just Like Heaven at the SST shop on
Sunset and sent them out to friends.
I  miss that store.....
This was a fun show.  If I haven't told you already
the Santa Monica Civic is like a high school basketball
gym.  It has bleachers in the back along the wall and
you just sit where you want.  They put on a great
show. This tour was supporting the release of
Without A Sound.  Its still one of my favourite
Dinosaur Jr. cd's.

1994 - Nine Inch Nails - Universal Amphitheatre

I seem to remember going to this show with Ron and Bianca.
Opening acts were Jim Rose Circus and Marilyn Manson.
Marilyn Manson got a mixed reaction.  People either love
or hate this band.  I thought they were really entertaining.
That  Beautiful People song is very catchy.
Found a set-list online from someone who recorded the show.
Thank you and hope its correct!

Welcome Back, Kotter

Recently there was a Welcome Back, Kotter reunion.
35 years ago I was at some event and was able to
get two of the Sweathogs autographs.
Robert Hedges and Lawrence Hilton-Jacobs.
Wish I had Gabe Kaplan or John Travolta's
to round out the photo.
Thought I would share though...

1994 - Lollapalooza - CSUDH Velodrome Field

Well, here we are at the end of this tour.
Remember we caught the incredibly hot first show
and will never forget it.
This leg of the tour was without the legendary Frogs.
I went to this show for the Smashing Pumpkins.
I love this band.  They make me want to
just get up and dance.  It was late summer
and a wonderful night.  When it got dark and
the bonfires were lit it was an amazing thing.
There were some individual experiences
at this show.  I went with Ron and Bianca.
Ron got his glasses broken in the pit for the
Breeders of all bands.  He spent the rest of the
show without glasses and drove us home.
I think it was during Green Day cause they replaced
the Boredoms, that Bianca got caught in their
pit and received a Doc Martin to the back of the
head and/or someone landed on her back.
I just remember her getting injured.  I stayed
at a safe distance from the shenanigans.
I mean really who would have thought that
someone could sustain damage during The Breeders!

1994 - Lush - Glam Slam

Went to this show with Ron.
He will have more in depth comments I am sure!
This show was at the club Prince owned for a time in
downtown Los Angeles.  It was filled with Prince
memorabilia and done up in his purple theme! With
naked lady statues and well typical Prince stuff.
This show had two opening bands on the bill,
That Dog and Weezer.  Loved them!
A couple of songs in to Lush's set the electricity
went out.  It was a small venue for this show.
Should have been at the El Rey or Wiltern.
So we waited around for awhile to see if the show
would resume and it didn't.  We were asked to come
back the next night and use our same ticket.
We did!  No Weezer but a band called
Sammy played. Very fun experience.
The ticket is signed by Miki.
